Ramapo College launches new programs in data science

Ramapo College of New Jersey has launched two new degree programs in data science.

The Mahwah-based higher educational institution said on Wednesday it has created a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science for the program, effective Fall 2020.

Data science is the scientific study of data to predict trends and make decisions.

“Ramapo College is committed to establishing itself as a hub for cutting-edge education and research in Data Science,” said Stefan Becker, Ramapo College Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. “I am excited that we will be able to offer our students a first-class education in the Data Science field, an area that is experiencing a strong and growing demand across industries.”

The undergraduate program will focus on computational information that can be applied in a wide range of areas, including human health and services, consumer behavior, marketing applications, and more. Data science undergraduates are also tasked with completing a minor.

The graduate program is a two-year, 30-credit curriculum with a fieldwork component.
