Humana Inc. is increasing the amount of health plan choices it offers Medicare beneficiaries in New Jersey.
The health and well-being company said on Wednesday it will provide its Humana Medicare Advantage plans to a larger state-based population by more than doubling the amount of counties in which it’s offered.
“Humana is proud to be able to reach additional New Jerseyans by offering Medicare Advantage plans in a total of 13 counties across the state for coverage starting in 2020,” Rich Vollmer, senior vice president and Medicare North division leader, Humana, said.
“We’re also excited to broaden our plan options by introducing an HMO plan in New Jersey as well. Humana’s investment in the state reflects our deep commitment to helping New Jerseyans achieve better health and well-being,” he said.
The seven counties being offered the new plan include Cumberland, Hunterdon, Mercer, Salem, Somerset, Sussex, and Warren.
Residents of each can select a Humana Choice Preferred Provider Organization Medicare Advantage plan during this year’s annual election period. The AEP runs from Oct. 15 through Dec. 7 for plan coverage to take effect on Jan. 1, 2020.
Humana said it will continue offer the plan in six other counties, including Bergen, Hudson, Morris, Burlington, Camden and Gloucester.
The company also announced that in five counties (Bergen, Hudson, Morris, Burlington, Camden and Gloucester) residents have access to an additional Medicare Advantage plan.
For the first time, Humana said it is offering a Medicare Advantage HMO plan in the state, in addition to its existing PPO plans.
