The Somerset County Business Partnership announced Thursday it has partnered with Fairleigh Dickinson University to establish a higher education collaboration.
The “Vibrant Connection”, SCBP said, with FDU is an expansion on a previous partnership between SCBP and Raritan Valley Community College, Rutgers University and Princeton University.
The goal of the collaboration is to build connections between FDU and Somerset County’s business community by building connections and strategic member programs through training resources available at FDU. Benefits include enhancing student engagement opportunities such as internships, co-ops, job placement and joint project work.
“The collaboration will build brand awareness of FDU in Somerset County by recognizing FDU as a higher education partner along with RVCC, Rutgers, and Princeton. This will facilitate business connections with Somerset County companies with focus on retail and hospitality, and manufaturing organizations,” SCBP CEO and president Mike Kerwin said.
Kerwin said building stronger connections between the SCBP and higher education is one of Somerset County’s top economic development initiatives.
“This initiative matches our strategic objective to expand the depth and scope of the university’s collaborations with industry in New Jersey and the surrounding region,” Jackie Lue Raia, director of corporate outreach and training at FDU’s Petrocelli College of Continuing Studies, said.
