Middlesex Water Co. said this week that a subsidiary company will acquire a pair of Delaware water companies from J.H. Wilkerson & Son Inc.
Iselin-based Middlesex said its Tidewater Utilities Inc. unit has received approval from the Delaware Public Service Commission to buy both the Wilkerson Water Co. and the Broadkiln Beach Water Co. The deal would add more than 1,000 customers to the 47,000 accounts Tidewater currently serves in the state, as each of the water companies services more than 500 customer connections.
“We are pleased to welcome customers of Wilkerson Water and Broadkiln Beach Water companies to the Tidewater family, and we thank David Wilkerson for working to ensure a smooth transition,” Tidewater President A. Bruce O’Connor said in a prepared statement. “Tidewater’s team of experienced professionals look forward to providing the high-quality, local and reliable water service customers have depended upon under the leadership of the Wilkerson family.”
The transaction is expected to close within 60 days.
