Barilari’s Italian Restaurant in Clifton has sold, according to Allenhurst-based commercial real estate firm Bielat Santore & Co.
The new owner, Manuel Antonio “Tony” Torres, is a Bergenfield resident who “vows to utilize his experience in the food and beverage industry to continue the establishment’s success,” Bielat Santore said in a news release.
The restaurant, located at 755 Van. Houten Ave., is currently undergoing renovations to turn it into Tony’s Pizza Pasta Grill, a brand Torres’ owns.
Torres spent the past 20 years at Bensi Restaurant Group, managing the restaurant and gaining extensive knowledge of Italian cuisine and pizza making.
“Tony is a person who loves the pizza restaurant business,” David Alvarez of Bielat Santore, who handled the sale, said. “His goal is to introduce the community to a simple, fresh-to-order approach of Italian cooking. Prices will also be reasonable to encourage patrons to dine out more often. The way Torres sees it, why cook on a Monday or Tuesday? Isn’t the beginning of the week hard enough?”
The eatery will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Guests can choose from a variety of menu items, including Italian entrees, sandwiches, pizza and children’s food.
A reopening date is slated for later this month.
