National Realty & Development Corp. announced Monday that 24 Hour Fitness has become the latest retailer at the soon-to-open The Shoppes at Middletown, a 340,000-square-foot town center in Middletown.
The fitness center leased 37,000 square feet at the center, which will be located on Route 35 at the intersection of Kings Highway East in eastern Monmouth County.
Construction of The Shoppes, which will offer grocery, recreation, fitness, specialty boutiques and restaurants, will begin in the spring of 2020. NRDC said it has already leased 230,000 square feet of available space, including anchor-tenants Wegmans and CMX Cinemas. Other tenants include Pet Supplies Plus, a liquor store and a nail salon.
“We have always envisioned The Shoppes at Middletown to house a diverse roster of offerings that will significantly enhance the local retail environment and provide a downtown gathering place,” John G. Orrico, president at NRDC, said. “A five-star fitness company such as 24 Hour Fitness will bring an exciting energy that has been missing from this part of the Route 35 corridor, and will serve as the perfect complement to Wegmans, CMX Cinemas, and the lively, walkable atmosphere that will begin to emerge next year.”
Available units at the property range from 1,500 to 15,000 square feet.
