Kansas wealth adviser acquiring Chatham-based tax practice

A Chatham-based tax practice is being acquired by a Kansas-based wealth advisory firm, as part of a pair of acquisitions, the Overland Park firm announced Monday.

Mariner Wealth Advisors has entered into binding agreements to buy New Jersey’s David G. Miller & Associates and the El Segundo, California-based G.M. Bremer & Associates, it said in a news release.

David G. Miller & Associates specializes in income tax, gift and payroll tax preparation for high net worth individuals and their families, Mariner said in a news release. Founder David Miller, Partner Ellen Elise Peifer and their team of nine tax professionals will become part of Mariner — which will further staff the office with wealth advisers.

G.M. Bremer & Associates will expand the firm’s presence in the Los Angeles area, with President Geoffrey M. Bremer and his six associates also becoming part of Mariner.

“We are thrilled to welcome these dynamic teams on board to support our growing tax offerings,” Rich Rosenberg, co-head of tax and insurance, said in a prepared statement. “Each of these firms bring unique regional market knowledge and a breadth of experience that we believe will elevate the value we deliver to current and future clients.”
