Two N.J. hospitals receive Top 50 national honor from Healthgrades

A pair of Atlantic Health System hospitals were the only ones in New Jersey to be ranked in America’s 50 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades, the Morristown-based system announced Tuesday.

Morristown Medical Center in Morristown and Overlook Medical Center in Summit were recognized in the 2020 listing, putting them among the top 1% of nearly 4,500 hospitals assessed by the health care resource, Atlantic Health said in a news release.

This is Morristown’s fifth consecutive listing in the rankings, Atlantic Health noted.

“Morristown Medical Center’s recognition as one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for the fifth year in a row is continued assurance to our communities of our unwavering commitment to the highest quality standards, coordination of care and patient outcomes,” Trish O’Keefe, the hospital’s president, said in a prepared statement. “We are so proud of our dedicated medical staff and clinical team members who provide extraordinary caring in a safe, healing environment for our patients and communities.”

Meanwhile, it is Overlook’s first time in the Top 50, although it had achieved a ranking in America’s 100 Best Hospitals in three prior years.

“Patients in our region can look to Overlook and know that they will receive the best care in the country,” Alan Lieber, the hospital’s president, said in a statement. “Achieving exemplary quality measures year after year is a monumental feat. Overlook’s focus on clinical outcomes, combined with a spirit of innovation and understanding that every team member has a part to play in the extraordinary care we provide, is what propelled us to this elite status.”

America’s 50 Best Hospitals recognizes medical centers for overall clinical excellence across a broad spectrum of care. Morristown and Overlook also received America’s 100 Best Hospitals recognition for the 2020 study period.
