3 from N.J. make Ethisphere’s ‘Most Ethical Companies’ list

Three New Jersey-based companies have been named one of the 2020 World’s Most Ethical Companies by the Ethisphere Institute.

This year, 132 companies that span 21 countries and 51 industries were recognized for setting global standards of business integrity and corporate citizenship.

In total, the combined companies have approximately 6.18 million employees and $2.61 trillion in annual revenues.

“This is truly a time to celebrate incredible achievements. When we initiated the World’s Most Ethical Companies recognition in 2007, the concept of companies proactively aligning profits and purpose seemed unlikely. However, leading CEOs and organizations continue to prove our long-held hypothesis that conducting ethical business is the key to maximizing profits,” Ethisphere CEO Timothy Erblich said. “In addition to congratulating all 2020 honorees, we commend their commitment to continuous improvement and raising the collective bar for all companies.”

The following are the New Jersey-based honorees:

  • Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Parsippany, one of two honorees in the lodging/hospitality category;
  • Realogy, Madison, one of four honorees in the real estate category;
  • Prudential, Newark, one of five honorees in the financial services category.

“Our ethics and values-driven culture guide how we serve our guests, partners, communities and each other every day,” Paul Cash, general counsel and chief compliance officer, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, said. “Wyndham’s core values of integrity, accountability, inclusivity, caring and fun are reflected in our compliance, social responsibility and sustainability programs, helping us to make smart and ethical decisions, which contribute to the bottom line.”

Realogy has earned the distinction for nine consecutive years, according to Ryan Schneider, CEO and president.

“Earning the distinction as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies for nine consecutive years is an incredible honor for Realogy and all of our employees. I’m particularly proud because the recognition reflects the deep commitment of the thousands of dedicated and talented people at Realogy who live by our core values of integrity, excellence and respect. It’s our employees’ leadership in the community, their treatment of each other, and their commitment to our affiliated agents, franchisees, and business partners that brings out the best in us,” Schneider said.

The companies chosen for the honor were based on the Ethisphere Institute’s Ethics Quotient, which provides a impartial and quantitative way to address a company’s performance. Scores are generated in five categories: ethics and compliance program (35%), corporate citizenship and responsibility (20%), culture of ethics (20%), governance (15%) and leadership and reputation (10%).
