Genova Burns launches Autonomous Vehicles Practice

Genova Burns LLC, a law firm based in Newark, announced on Wednesday it has launched an Autonomous Vehicles Practice.

The group will focus on the legal and business needs of this new emerging technology and its associated industries, including all legal matters, government regulations and business concerns to bring it to market.

“The promise of autonomous vehicles has been made for decades, but contemporary technological innovations have put this vision on the brink of becoming reality,” Angelo Genova, co-founder and managing partner of Genova Burns, said. “With this technological advancement comes a host of legal questions that will mean big changes in the areas of automobile liability, insurance, government regulation and licensing, labor, and real estate.”

The practice will be led by Avi D. Kelin, a government-appointed member of the New Jersey Advanced Autonomous Vehicle Task Force.

“As we move closer to the reality of autonomous vehicles on our roads and highways, we are now equipped to provide a full complement of legal counsel and services to all manner of companies in navigating changing government regulations, proactively addressing unsettled liability questions, and developing and protecting their intellectual property surrounding this new vehicle technology,” Kelin said. “We also maintain deep expertise in every aspect of real-estate development and land use, labor law, and employment law, so we can assist companies in understanding the impact that changes in mobility technology will have within the worlds of real estate and labor.”
