We usually don’t cover presidential news conferences, but these aren’t normal times. In case you haven’t been glued to the TV or social media, here are a few things President Donald Trump said at a Saturday afternoon media event:
- He’s taken a coronavirus test: Trump said he did it because of the all questions surrounding him about it. He said he expects it will take 1-2 days to get the results (which would make it faster than normal). We’re also guessing it will be sooner than 1-2 days.
- Considering domestic travel ban: Trump said he is “considering” banning domestic travel in some areas. He also said he is not encouraging it. “If you don’t have to travel, I wouldn’t do it,” he said.
- Expanding European travel ban: Trump said he will extend the travel ban from the U.K. and Ireland. It will go into effect at midnight Monday.
- Shaking hands: Trump said he has been shaking hands with political leaders and business leaders by reflex. He said he has to learn to stop doing it. And he questioned whether anyone should ever do it, because of its ability to spread germs.
