Wakefern promotes Henig, Harris to chief roles

Wakefern Food Corp. announced on Wednesday it has promoted Steve Henig to chief customer officer and named Bryant Harris as chief merchandising officer.

Wakefern is a Keasbey-based retailer-owned cooperative that has member companies owning and operating supermarkets under the ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Dearnborn Market and Gourmet Garage brands. 

Henig has been with Wakefern for nearly three decades, progressing through various procurement roles as well as leadership ones in corporate merchandising and marketing. He most recently served as vice president of digital commerce and analytics. As chief customer officer, he will work with company members to establish a brand voice and provide insights into the market, customers and competitors. He will also oversee the departments of branding, e-commerce, marketing and advertising.

Harris, who has more than 20 years of experience in retailing, will be tasked with overseeing the company’s product procurement strategy, in store merchandising, pricing and promotions. He will work closely with Henig to increase sales. Previously, Harris was the executive vice president, chief commercial officer for Save A Lot. He’s also held roles at Walmart Inc. and it’s subsidiary, Sam’s Club.
