The kids are all right: It’s been a tough semester for students of all ages, stuck home due to the coronavirus outbreak, but there have been some recent highlights. Four NJIT undergrads were named to the prestigious list of Goldwater Scholars — tying NJIT for the second-highest number of winners in the nation. And NAIOP NJ held its annual case competition via ZOOM, with a team from Villanova outlasting the competition to claim the title. Cheers to all the kids out there doing their best … and their teachers and parents.
Return to normalcy? Some things don’t change, even in COVID World, and that apparently includes real estate deals. It was nice to see some commercial and industrial transactions giving the state a bit of “business as usual” in times that are anything but. The latest moves included McCarter & English signing a lease extension at the Gateway complex in Newark and JLL earning the job of leasing the former Toys R Us HQ in Wayne. Cheers, and good luck!
Keep up the good work: As has been the case, the business community is rallying in the face of the COVID-19 crisis, with everyone from automakers (Camden’s Subaru) to hair growth companies (Ewing’s Viviscal) donating everything from money to meals to personal protective equipment and more. Cheers to everyone fighting the good fight.
