N.J. Walmart associates awarded another $4.7M in cash bonuses

Walmart announced on Thursday it its New Jersey-based associates have been awarded an additional $4.7 million in cash bonuses.

The bonus, which is the third in less than three months, gave $300 to full-time hourly associates and drivers, $150 to part-time hourly and temporary associates, and $400 to assistant managers. To qualify, workers had to be employed by the company as of June 5.

“Walmart and Sam’s Club associates continue to do remarkable work, and it’s important we reward and appreciate them,” John Furner, CEO and president of Walmart U.S., said in a May 12 news release. “All across the country, they’re providing Americans with the food, medicine and supplies they need, while going above and beyond the normal scope of their jobs – diligently sanitizing their facilities, making customers and members feel safe and welcome, and handling difficult situations with professionalism and grace.”

Since the pandemic began, Walmart has invested nearly $1 billion toward two special cash bonuses, an early quarterly bonus payout and other initiatives.
