Klein to become new co-head for JLL Capital Markets in N.J., alongside Cruz

JLL has named a new co-head for JLL Capital Markets in New Jersey, the real estate firm announced this week.

Michael Klein, a senior managing director, will lead the Garden State debt and equity placement business. Senior Managing Director Jose Cruz will continue to lead the investment advisory platform.

“Mike exemplifies all of the qualities we look for in the next generation of leaders of this firm,” Jon Mikula, senior managing director, and former co-lead, said in a prepared statement. “He started his career in commercial real estate with our team in 2002, and through his strong work ethic and dedication to his clients and partners, has become one of the leaders in our business.”

Klein, who has more than 18 years of experience in the commercial mortgage banking industry, joined JLL during its acquisition of HFF in July 2019.

“Jon has been a mentor and partner of mine since I joined HFF and through the merger to JLL,” he said in a statement. “He is one of the most respected individuals in our business, has consistently led by example and has been a driver in significantly growing our platform in New Jersey over the years. He has prepared me well for this transition, and I am looking forward to working directly with Jose Cruz to take JLL Capital Markets’ presence and market share in New Jersey to the next level.”

Mikula will remain active as a senior managing director, JLL said, focusing on both current clients and new business.
