Transportation company makes 150 furloughs at Newark airport into layoffs

Golden Touch Transportation of New York, a ground transportation provider, is ceasing operations at Newark Liberty International Airport and permanently laying off more than 150 workers who had previously been furloughed, according to a federal WARN notice.

The notice said GTT would be laying off 136 bus operators and 19 dispatchers, as well as supervisors and other workers.

GTT also said the COVID-19 pandemic had impacted company operations.

The company could not be reached for comment.

WARN notices normally cover mass layoffs or facility closings as part of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act of 1989.
