Olde Thompson, a California-based maker of spice solutions, has agreed to acquire Bayonne-based Gel Spice Co., a maker and packager of spices and other baking ingredients, it announced this week.
The deal will make Olde Thompson the largest dedicated private-label spice supplier in the U.S., it said in a news release. The combined company can now provide major retailers with a complete spice solution for private labels, with a bicoastal manufacturing footprint and complementary manufacturing capabilities, Olde Thompson added.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
The family-owned Gel Spice has been in business since 1955, and currently utilizes nearly a half-million square feet of manufacturing and warehouse facilities.
