Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange has been recognized as the No. 4 rehabilitation hospital in the nation in the prestigious U.S. News & World Report rankings for 2020-21.
This marks the 28th consecutive year that Kessler Institute, part of Select Medical, has been ranked among the nation’s best hospitals for rehabilitation.
President Sue Kida said the honor always is welcomed.
“We are honored that Kessler continues to be ranked as one of the very best rehabilitation hospitals in the country,” she said. “This is testimony to our unwavering commitment to providing the highest level of safe, quality care to individuals with complex injuries and illnesses and helping them rebuild their lives. We are proud of our more than 2,200 Kessler employees and inspired by the more than 7,000 patients and their families who choose us for their rehabilitation each year.”
Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, in collaboration with Kessler Foundation, is one of only seven federally designated Model Systems in the nation for the treatment and research of both traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury. The hospital also provides innovative care to individuals with stroke, neurologic diseases, amputation, orthopedic trauma, cancer, cardiac and other disabling conditions.
Dr. Bruce M. Gans, Kessler Institute’s chief medical officer, said the honor shows why Kessler is a national brand.
“To be ranked fourth among the nearly 1,200 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and units in the country is profound acknowledgement of Kessler Institute’s leadership in patient care, as well as in research, education and patient advocacy,” he said.
Kessler Institute has four hospital campuses, in West Orange, Saddle Brook, Chester and Marlton, and more than 95 outpatient Kessler Rehabilitation Center locations throughout the state.
