Amazon announced on Tuesday it will open a new delivery station in Kearny this week.

The company said it will welcome associates inside the 415,000-square-foot building to celebrate Day One of the opening.

The station, which will be located at 50 Central Ave., will create more than 120 full-time jobs, all paying at least $15 per hour, in addition to hundreds of driver-based positions for Amazon’s Delivery Service Partners and Amazon Flex drivers.

Delivery Stations power the last mile of processing orders and help speed up deliveries. They also offer entrepreneurs and independent contractors the chance to build their own business and be their own boss. Packages are shipped to the stations from Amazon fulfillment and sortation centers and are then delivered to customers.

In celebration of the Kearny launch, Amazon said it made a $5,000 donation to Children’s Specialized Hospital Outpatient Center at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center as well as fulfilled hundreds of ‘wish list’ items for immunocompromised patients, including toys, activity books and games.
