Hunterdon County gets its first Pickleball sports facility

A Pickleball sports facility is opening in Flemington, according to commercial brokerage firm NAI DiLeo-Bram & Co.

    Marc Shein.

NAI DiLeo’s Marc Shein, senior vice president, completed the 11,200-square-foot lease for Flemington Pickleball Club LLC at 19 Royal Road.

Pickleball is a cross between ping pong, tennis and badminton and is played on a court about a third of the size of a regular tennis court, uses paddles and a hard plastic ball.

“We had numerous inquiries for the vacant space, as there is limited industrial availability in the Flemington marketplace,” Shein said. “The building, having clear span, a 21’ ceiling height and being fully air conditioned and zoned for recreational use, attracted interest from various sports-related groups.”

This will be Hunderdon County’s first indoor Pickleball-only facility, with five climate-controlled courts and a lounge for players and spectators. The facility is expected to open in September.

“We wanted to create an experience that combines fitness, competition, entertainment and community, and can be enjoyed by all ages and skill levels.  We believe the sport of Pickleball and the facility at 19 Royal Road provide us the right combination to realize our goal,” Lugue said.
