Industrial building-turned-church has been sold, NAI Hanson says

A Hackensack industrial/flex building has been sold by one church to another, according to real estate firm NAI James E. Hanson.

NAI Hanson said in a news release that the 30,000-square-foot property at 80 Commerce Way was sold by Canaan Korean Community Church — represented by NAI Hanson’s Scott Perkins and Chris Todd — to Pilgrim Mission Church — represented by Coldwell Banker Fort Lee’s William Lee.

The industrial property had been converted to a church by the owner, which made it a good fit for the buyer, another local church searching for a new home, NAI Hanson said.

“On the surface, it may seem serendipitous that the buyer we helped our client secure was also a church with similar space needs and operating objectives, but this transaction can, in fact, be chalked up to our successful, tailored marketing campaign for the property,” Perkins said in a prepared statement. “While we leveraged our depth and breadth of expertise in the industrial sector to market the building to a wide range of prospective users, at the end of the day, we were able to identify a buyer that was a perfect fit for the property’s former usage and could also take full advantage of the existing buildout.”
