Former retail exec opens senior-focused relocation franchise in NW N.J.

A former executive with Barneys New York and Gucci has launched a new business, he announced this week: a senior-focused relocation and estate clearing company.

Tony Mauro’s venture, a Caring Transitions franchise, is based in Lebanon and will serve the northwest New Jersey area, including Hackettstown, Flemington, Whitehouse Station and beyond, the company said in a news release.

Its customizable services will include decluttering, packing, home cleanouts and more.

“My Mom died last year,” Mauro said in a prepared statement. “Packing up her belongings was extremely difficult for our family. My brother, sister and I all live out of town, which added to the challenges. What we needed was a compassionate, objective company to help. We needed Caring Transitions. I’m looking forward to using that experience — and my professional background — to help families in my area through the transitions they are facing.”

Mauro is a Certified Senior Relocation and Transitions Specialist, he noted. He said his company is bonded and insured, and employees undergo background checks.

“As I was going through the experience with my family, I also knew I wanted to leave corporate life and make a difference, so I was thinking about what my next step would be,” he said. “I have bought the annual Entrepreneur Magazine Franchise 500 issue for years and, as I was looking through the opportunities, I found Caring Transitions, and it was an ‘a-ha’ moment.”
