Burlington Stores, the off-price clothing retailer, has taken over a freestanding store at the Somerville Circle Shopping Center in Raritan that formerly was a Toys R Us and Babies R Us location, according to real estate firm Levin Management Corp.
The center, at 300 Route 202, has 150,000 total square feet of retail space, said North Plainfield-based LMC, which exclusively handles leasing and management there.
“Burlington is a terrific anchor addition for this property, which already is a popular shopping destination for regional consumers,” LMC’s Vanessa Fernandez-Kelty, senior leasing representative, said in a prepared statement. “This is a great example of our efforts not just to fill space, but to fill space with the right tenant — one that complements its co-tenancy and adds to a property’s dynamic.”
Fernandez-Kelty negotiated the lease, and LMC noted it had recently arranged another Burlington Stores lease in Secaucus on behalf of another client.
“Off-price retailers are a bright spot in the current marketplace, and Burlington — which is aggressively expanding its footprint — is no exception,” Fernandez-Kelty said.
