DraftKings, Giants agree to expanded partnership

DraftKings and the New York Giants announced a multiyear agreement Wednesday that makes the gaming company the Official Sports Betting, iGaming and Daily Fantasy operator of the NFL team, which plays at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.

The deal will enable Boston-based DraftKings to use Giants logos and branding, as well as create a virtual SportsLounge open on game days. The Giants and DraftKings have worked together for several years, the two noted.

“Our enhanced agreement with DraftKings provides innovative opportunities as we look to deliver a best-in-class fan experience,” Giants Chief Commercial Officer Pete Guelli said in a prepared statement. “DraftKings is the preeminent leader in sports betting and daily fantasy sports, and we are excited to be the first NFL team to have an exclusive integrated deal in this category.”

The Giants lost their opening game of the 2020 season Monday night at MetLife, falling to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 26-16. (The favored Steelers covered the spread.)

DraftKings said football is the most popular sport on its platform, and the Giants are one of the most popular teams, ranking in the Top 40 for the most highly bet franchises by both handle and wagers.

“The New York Giants have continued to be a fantastic organization to work with over the years, and we are excited to expand our relationship,” DraftKings Chief Business Officer Ezra Kucharz said in a prepared statement. “… Both organizations remain committed to customer experience through enhanced product offerings and authenticity, and look forward to joining forces across platforms as the highly anticipated NFL season gets underway.”
