Freshpet Inc. will have a new chief financial officer as the new month arrives, as the Secaucus-based pet food company’s previous CFO takes on the new role of vice chairman at the end of this month, it confirmed this week.
Heather Pomerantz will take over as CFO, effective Thursday, with Dick Kassar, the outgoing CFO, taking on his new role effective Wednesday. The transition had been announced in December, when Pomerantz was hired away from the Nature’s Bounty Co. as executive vice president of finance.
“The past nine months have been a great learning experience, as I’ve been able to immerse into all aspects of the business,” Pomerantz said in a prepared statement. “I am very grateful to Dick for his mentorship during the transition.”
In addition, Freshpet named Steve Macchiaverna as its executive vice president, secretary and treasurer, and Ivan Garcia as its vice president of finance and controller.
“Since joining Freshpet, I’ve been impressed with the strength of the leadership team and the support that the organization demonstrates to develop talent,” Pomerantz said. “The promotions of Steve Macchiaverna and Ivan Garcia are great examples of this, both well-deserved, and will continue to be important contributors to our finance organization.”
