Nine from N.J. make Working Mother list of 100 Best Companies

Working Mother is out with its annual list of the 100 Best Companies for working moms, and nine New Jersey businesses made the grade, including two in the Top 10.

New Brunswick-based Johnson & Johnson and Englewood Cliffs-based Unilever were at the head of the class, both earning Top 10 honors — with J&J having maintained its spot on the list for more than 25 years.

The other companies who made the Top 100 included:

  • ADP, Roseland;
  • Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Newark;
  • Merck, Kenilworth;
  • Novo Nordisk, Plainsboro;
  • Prudential Financial, Newark;
  • Sanofi, Bridgewater;
  • Zoetis, Parsippany.

Working Mother said its Top 100 represents more than 2 million U.S. employees, and earned their place with a focus on inclusive benefits, generous leave options and accessible child care, among other benefits.

“Our 100 Best Companies are the standard of excellence and continue to pave the way with the work they are doing on behalf of working parents and caregivers in the U.S.,” Subha Barry, president of Working Mother Media, said in a prepared statement. “These companies were well ahead of the curve when it came to supporting their employees during this time of vast change with their family-friendly policies already in place. We celebrate their efforts and applaud them for addressing the needs of this important and ever-growing sector of talent.”

The nine companies from New Jersey were the same ones that made the 2019 list, as well. Companies chosen answered an application with more than 400 questions about policies and programs aimed at working parents.

“We are extremely proud to once again earn this respected recognition for supporting working families,” Aisha Thomas-Petit, chief diversity, inclusion and corporate social responsibility officer at ADP, said in a statement. “Now, more than ever, parents need flexibility and programs in place to help them integrate work and life amid today’s challenges.”
