TerraCycle founder Szaky to discuss Loop, his latest company connected to recycling, on Friday webinar

Tom Szaky, founder and CEO of Trenton-based TerraCycle, has received hundreds of social, environmental and business awards and recognition for its efforts as a global leader in the collection and repurposing of complex waste streams.

TerraCycle, which operates in 21 countries, is working with some of the world’s largest brands, retailers and manufacturers to create national platforms to recycle products and packaging that currently go to landfill or incineration.

TerraCycle also is the lead company in a new circular shopping platform called Loop that enables consumers to shop for some of their favorite brands in durable, reusable packaging.

Launched in May 2019, Loop is a key step in helping to end the epidemic of waste that is caused by “single-use” consumption.

Now, however, Szaky and entrepreneurs all over the state and the country are facing their biggest challenge as they navigate a world dominated by COVID-19.

On Friday afternoon, Szaky will be the featured guest on a webinar sponsored by James Barrood, an adviser to Tech Council Ventures.

The hourlong event will discuss a number of topics, including:

  • Szaky’s entrepreneurial journey;
  • Changes in the recycling industry and how company has pivoted;
  • Loop — and how it will impact our world;
  • Advice for entrepreneurs during this downturn;
  • A question-and-answer period.
