Woodmont celebrates start of vertical construction on Woodbridge distribution center project

Woodmont Industrial Partners has begun vertical construction on a more than 101,000-square-foot distribution center in Woodbridge, it announced recently.

The unit of Fairfield-based Woodmont Properties held a steel-raising ceremony for the 101,425-square-foot, Class A development at 85 New Brunswick Ave., it said in a news release. The ground-up project is slated for completion in the second quarter of 2021.

“We’re incredibly proud to be part of today’s commemorative celebration, and applaud Woodmont’s hard work and commitment behind this amazing milestone,” Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac said in a prepared statement after he and other community leaders took part in the ceremony. “The addition of an asset such as Woodmont’s world-class distribution center will provide long-lasting benefits to the community, and serves as a key indicator of the growth and opportunity Woodbridge has to offer.”

Woodmont said it had worked for 18 months on the project, finally closing on the site acquisition in July. The company noted that it continues to pursue opportunities to grow its industrial portfolio throughout the Eastern corridor.

“Today not only marks a milestone for Woodmont Industrial Partners redevelopment projects, it also represents a great deal of cooperation, determination and professionalism between Woodmont and our partners in this endeavor,” Woodmont Properties CEO Eric Witmondt said in a statement. “Throughout the acquisition process, and as we move forward with construction, we’ve been incredibly fortunate to work alongside true leaders in local government and in the Woodbridge community — without whom none of this would be possible.”

A CBRE team of Mindy Lissner, executive vice president, and Kevin Dudley and David Gheriani, senior vice presidents, will serve as the property’s exclusive leasing agent.
