Eatontown tech firm makes $17.4M acquisition to bolster EMEA offerings

Eatontown-based Wayside Technology Group Inc. has acquired a U.K.-based cloud software company through a subsidiary in a deal valued at about $17.4 million, it announced this week.

Climb Channel Solutions, a unit of Wayside, has acquired CDF Group Ltd., whose subsidiaries Grey Matter and Sigma Software Distribution provide software products, including to value-added resellers throughout the Europe-Middle East-Asia region.

“CDF brings a robust cloud services platform to Climb and strengthens our position in the EMEA market,” Climb Channel CEO Dale Foster said in a prepared statement. “By utilizing CDF’s existing cloud infrastructure, we believe that our cloud offerings are better positioned to meet the growing needs of our vendor and VAR partners in both EMEA and North America.”

The acquisition will add about 125 employees to Wayside, as well as grow its network by more than 1,000 retailers and bolster its vendor relationships. CDF Group CEO Andrew King will become Wayside’s president and general manager of EMEA.
