Walmart announced its New Jersey associates will receive more than $8.4 million in quarterly and special bonuses this holiday season, part of a $700 million national bonus program.
Eligible full- and part-time associates in the Garden State are sharing $3.4 million in quarterly bonuses, which were paid out in a late November paycheck, along with $5 million in special cash bonuses to be paid out in a late December paycheck, recognizing associates’ commitment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As we come to a close on this historic year, I’m filled with gratitude for how our associates have led through one of the most trying periods for our company and country,” John Furner, CEO and president of Walmart U.S., said in a prepared statement. “Our associates have stepped up to serve our customers, communities and each other when it was truly needed most, and we’re pleased to recognize their efforts with a quarterly bonus for strong store performance and a fourth special cash bonus.”
Overall, Walmart will pay out more than $2.8 billion in bonuses to U.S.-based associates in 2020, the company said. The company also noted it is extending its COVID-19 Emergency Leave policy, which provides associates with up to two weeks of pay if they must miss work for COVID-related reasons, through July 5.
