Esports Entertainment Group wraps up EGL acquisition

Esports Entertainment Group Inc., which has its U.S. headquarters in Newark, has completed its previously announced acquisition of Esports Gaming League, it announced Thursday.

The deal, first announced in December, gives the esports entertainment and gaming company a provider of live and online events and tournaments aimed at the business-to-business market.

“EGL is a great addition to our growing operations, and further strengthens our ability to execute on our three-pillar strategy,” Esports Entertainment Group CEO Grant Johnson said in a prepared statement. “EGL technology underpins the esports programs for some of the world’s best-known sports franchises, including the L.A. Kings, Philadelphia Eagles and Arsenal Football Club.

“We plan to build on this strong foundation moving forward, driving near-term revenue growth and long-term shareholder value improvement.”
