Bakery moving from Fort Lee to Englewood under new lease, NAI Hanson says

A boutique bakery is coming to Englewood after signing a new retail lease, according to real estate firm NAI James E. Hanson.

Chic Sugars LLC signed for 2,506 square feet at 28-46 S. Dean St., a site that offers 315 square feet of frontage in a two-story, 41,000-square-foot mixed-use building. A New York Sports Club occupies the entire second floor, and the facility has an attached indoor parking garage.

NAI Hanson’s Anthony Cassano and Ronald Fotiu represented the tenant and the landlord, JPMCC2006 LPD8-24&42 S. Dean Street LLC.

“Increased visibility and flexibility remain among the top priorities for retail and office businesses, trends that have only accelerated as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Cassano said in a prepared statement. “28-46 S. Dean St. meets both criteria, which make it an ideal destination for retail and office tenants to enhance their market position as they seek to engage prospective customers in the local community.”

The bakery was founded in 2009 in Fort Lee by baker and cake designer Erika Oldham, and specializes in custom cakes and more. The new location will help Chic Sugars expand into a larger, more heavily trafficked location while still serving the North Jersey community, NAI Hanson said.

The deal represents the third lease at the property that Cassano and Fotiu have negotiated. Two units remain for lease, or can be combined into one larger unit, they said.

“We were pleased to leverage our deep market expertise to find another quality tenant for this property, while helping to bring a highly reputable small business to the area,” Cassano said.
