Duffy, Minuskin, others leave Coughlin Duffy for Schenck Price

Name partner and firm co-founder Timothy Duffy and four other partners at Coughlin Duffy have left that firm to join Schenck, Price, Smith & King LLP, it was announced Thursday.

Heidi Minuskin, Mark Silver, Joseph Amoroso and Jonathan Donath — along with associates Michael Seeburger and Ryan Gallagher and several paralegals and support staff — also are joining the 109-year-old Florham Park firm.

Schenck Price Managing Partner Gary Werner said the new attorneys will expand its commercial litigation and environmental groups and add depth to a host of practice areas, including pharmaceutical, toxic torts, products liability, employment and contract disputes.

“We are excited to welcome Tim Duffy and his team to Schenck Price,” Werner said. “These are thoughtful, tough attorneys who have the top-tier skills, knowledge and experience that deliver results. Tim brings valuable experience and leadership skills to the firm, and Heidi will co-chair our environmental practice group.”

Duffy has extensive trial and appellate experience in complex, multiparty litigation in state and federal courts in New Jersey and throughout the country, including class actions and mass tort litigation in a variety of areas.

His practice concentrates on a broad range of claims, including product liability, multiparty toxic tort litigation, pharmaceutical litigation, land use disputes, environmental and regulatory litigation, labor and employment litigation, and contract disputes.

Minuskin’s practice focuses on environmental law and commercial and real estate transactions.

Her work includes Superfund Brownfields redevelopment, ISRA, due diligence, disclosure obligations, environmental insurance matters, site remediation and regulatory compliance and permitting issues. She represents a broad range of clients, from Fortune 100 companies to individuals, in environmental litigation, penalty and enforcement matters, and cost recovery actions.

Duffy said the departure of the group from Coughlin Duffy underscores the evolution of that firm.

“Coughlin Duffy has a strong commitment to serving its insurance clients in a full range of insurance services work, and has become one of the leaders nationally in this practice area,” he said. “It is committed to growing and expanding the firm in this specialized practice.

“Our commercial litigation and transactions group’s search for an opportunity for similar growth led us to Schenck Price.”

Duffy feels the group has found a good fit.

“The attorneys at Schenck Price provide a dynamic platform of support for our team of talented and dedicated attorneys,” he said. “Our clients will benefit from the breadth of Schenck Price’s legal offerings and the depth of experience of its attorneys. We’re excited to be part of such a storied law firm.”
