Westfield Seafood’s new owner signs new lease for shop, LMC says

Fresh fish retailer and wholesaler Westfield Seafood’s new ownership has signed a new lease at its current location, according to real estate services firm Levin Management Corp.

Westfield Seafood is located at 220 South Ave. W., a 1,500-square-foot standalone shop, North Plainfield-based LMC said in a news release. The firm’s Kendal Hand-Freda, leasing representative, arranged the transaction.

Roberto Bonilla, a 20-year veteran of the fish business, recently purchased the business from longtime owner Vince Bruns.

“Westfield Seafood is a longtime area staple that has been an important part of Westfield’s business community for more than 30 years,” Hand-Freda said in a prepared statement. “We are pleased to see it remain as such, and for Mr. Bruns’ legacy to continue. We look forward to working with the store’s new ownership for years to come.”

Bonilla, who is operating the business with his son, Bruno Bonilla, owns four other fish markets, anchored by his main store in Hackensack. He said he is retaining the store’s staff and intends to maintain the store’s successful business formula.
