ETS Strategic Capital announces pair of investments

ETS Strategic Capital, the unit of Princeton-based ETS focused on growing its educational business through equity investments, announced a pair of deals Thursday.

The new companies that will become part of ETS Strategic Capital’s portfolio are: MPower Financing, a fintech lender focused on increasing access for international student communities; and Vericant, a company that aims to aid admissions officers with international admissions and assessment.

“Our newest investments and acquisitions are a reflection of our mandate to leverage external inorganic entrepreneurial high-growth tech business innovations to expand on the capabilities and align to the mission of ETS,” Ralph Taylor-Smith, the managing director of ETS Strategic Capital, said in a prepared statement. “Through equity investments, growth partnerships and M&A, we continue to explore new and emerging business opportunities globally for ETS to serve learners worldwide.”

ETS Strategic Capital said it made a minority investment in MPower’s most recent financing round, while acquiring Vericant — which will go forward as a subsidiary company.

Financial terms of the transactions were not disclosed.
