NAIOP announces gala honorees (Sudler, Gensler), makes call for Deal of the Year nominations

Peter Sudler, chairman and CEO of Sudler Cos., and the team at Gensler, a global architecture, design, planning and consulting firm that operates in New Jersey from its Morristown office, will receive the coveted Impact Awards from the New Jersey Chapter of NAIOP at its annual gala, which will be held Oct. 7.

The NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Gala, which organizers are hoping will be an in-person event, is the biggest night in commercial real estate. It will be held at the Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset.

NAIOP New Jersey currently is accepting nominations for its coveted “Deal of the Year” awards, which also will be presented that night.

Assemblywoman Eliana Pintor Marin (D-Newark) will be honored with the Caren S. Franzini Public Partner Award, which recognizes champions of development that inspire and transform communities.

Josh Burd, the editor of Real Estate New Jersey, will be honored with the Industry Service Award.

NAIOP NJ President Gus Milano, president and chief operating officer of Hartz Mountain Industries, said the group is thrilled by the honorees.

“This year’s honorees are a remarkable group, each of whom has made tremendous contributions to the commercial real estate industry — and communities across New Jersey — in very different ways,” he said.

The gala, which was held virtually last year due to the pandemic, traditionally has drawn over 800 commercial and industrial real estate professionals annually. NAIOP officials said the event will be held in accordance with COVID-19 restrictions in place at the time, and everyone is encouraged to be fully vaccinated before attending.

The members-only gala ticket pre-sale is open now through June 18. Ticket sales will open to the public June 21 unless the event is sold out. As of now, purchases will be limited to eight tickets. For sponsorship information and complete details, visit NAIOPNJ.org/Gala34.

NAIOP NJ is now accepting entries for the awards competition, which must include a commercial real estate component and at least one principal partner who is a NAIOP NJ member in good standing.

Deals must have been substantially completed by Dec. 31, 2020. The size of the deal is not as important as its creativity, complexity and impact on the community.

The deadline for entries is May 5 at 5 p.m., and finalists will make presentations to the judges June 4. All inquiries should be directed to Donna Laterza at 732-729-9900.
