Popeyes franchise signs lease at Pompton Plains center

A Popeyes Chicken is opening in Pompton Plains, according to the owner of a shopping center there.

Phillips Edison & Co., a real estate investment trust based in Cincinnati, said the restaurant has signed a lease at the 161,035-square-foot Plaza 23. The franchise is owned by Steve Cox, who currently owns four Popeyes, and two more under construction, PECO said in a news release.

“We are excited to bring the first Popeyes to the Pompton Plains community,” Rob Murphy, a PECO senior leasing agent, said in a prepared statement. “Plaza 23 offers a variety of retail, restaurant and entertainment options that are popular with local residents, and we will soon break ground on a second outparcel that will enable us to bring more retailers to the center.”

Chris Conway, director with the Goldstein Group, represented the tenant, Murphy said.
