Unilever acquiring wellness and lifestyle brand Onnit

Unilever, which has its North American headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, has agree to acquire holistic wellness and lifestyle company Onnit, it announced this week.

The company said in a news release that the Texas-based firm offers a range of supplements for everything from cognitive function to mood and relaxation, gut health and immunity support, among other products.

“Onnit is a leading brand in the fast-growing nootropics segment,” Peter ten Kulve, president of home care and health & wellbeing at Unilever, said in a prepared statement. “With its holistic health offering and digital-first model, Onnit perfectly complements our growing portfolio of innovative wellness and supplement brands.”

Onnit will remain based in Austin, with CEO Jason Havey leading the company, Unilever said. Founder Aubrey Marcus will remain a brand ambassador.

“We are thrilled to welcome Onnit to the Unilever family,” Fabian Garcia, president of Unilever North America, said in a statement. “As a dynamic and purpose-led brand, Unilever is strongly aligned with Onnit’s vision to improve the health and wellness of consumers with scientifically proven solutions.”

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal is subject to customary approvals and conditions.
