Conduent wins $178M contract for U.K. transportation charging solution

Florham Park-based Conduent’s Conduent Transportation unit has been chosen for a $178 million contract in the U.K., the firm announced Monday.

Conduent Transportation won the £128 million, 10.5-year contract from the U.K. Department for Transport’s Highways England to implement and manage an automated charging solution for a river crossing near London.

“This award demonstrates our commitment to our global strategy for growth while continuing to provide effective, end-to-end solutions for our clients,” Mark Brewer, group president, transportation solutions, for Conduent, said in a prepared statement. “Building on our strong U.K. and European presence and capabilities, we are dedicated to delivering a successful program for Highways England and its customers.”

The award for the Dartford-Thurrock Crossing of the River Thames represents a major expansion of Conduent’s Road Usage Charging business in the U.K. and Europe. The company is an industry leader in automated or electronic tolling in the U.S. and provides a variety of services in the U.K. and Europe.
