Lory’s Lakeside in North Brunswick has new owner

Lory’s Lakeside, a local tavern known by all in North Brunswick, has been sold.

The good news: It’s been sold to a local entrepreneur — an undisclosed regular customer, who is promising to keep the name.

Lory’s Lakeside, a 5,344-square-foot restaurant and bar building situated on about 1.3 acres of lakeside property at 97 Church Lane, has been looking for a new owner since its original owner and sole proprietor, Todd Lory, passed away suddenly in December 2019.

Bielat Santore & Co. of Allenhurst found a buyer.

Bielat’s Richard Santore said the pandemic made it a tough challenge, as restaurant and bar sales plummeted.

“Although the property offered a picturesque and advantageous setting, selling any restaurant in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic was not an easy task,” Santore said.

Santore said the new owners will continue to operate the business as a neighborhood tavern and family restaurant, offering good food and drink at value-oriented price points, indoor and outdoor dining, curbside pickup and late-night entertainment.
