Metal 3D printing company signs lease in Whippany

A 3D printing company has signed a five-year lease in Whippany, according to Tulfra Real Estate.

The real estate firm said this week that Desktop Metal signed for 7,571 square feet at its 60 S. Jefferson Road’s Unit 2. The firm said the Massachusetts-based company will use the space for research & development on metal 3D printing technologies.

“Desktop Metal offers a unique and valuable service unlike anything else in northern New Jersey, and a light industrial/tech space is precisely what they need to accommodate their 3D printing equipment,” Marcus Lee, asset manager for Rochelle Park-based Tulfra, said in a prepared statement.

The property at 60 S. Jefferson Road is a 57,000-square-foot former manufacturing site that Tulfra has significantly renovated into separate units for light industrial-type use.

“Our vision for 60 S. Jefferson Road is for leading industrial and tech companies like Desktop Metal to plant roots and grow here,” Lee said. “With Desktop Metal opening a new location in Unit 2, they are in just the right space to service clients from all industries and backgrounds.”

Hugh Scullin of Katz & Associates in Englewood Cliffs served as the broker on the transaction, while Nancy Tuckman of Newmark Associates in Cedar Knolls represented Tulfra.
