Samaritan, a leading not-for-profit organization that specializes in advanced illness care, grief support and counseling, education and advocacy, will hold a virtual wills and estate planning workshop Sept. 21.
The workshop, which will be virtual, will take place from 5:30-7 p.m. It is free, but you must register. (Do so here.)
Samaritan CEO Mary Ann Boccolini said the items discussed will help many. It is estimated that more than 50% of people do not have a will or estate planning document prepared for themselves.
“It is crucial for individuals to have their personal affairs in order and prepare for the unexpected well before a crisis strikes,” she said. “Through this interactive online workshop, our panel of local estate planning attorneys will discuss the importance of having a will and estate planning. In addition, these professionals will be available to answer any of your questions.”
The virtual workshop is hosted by Samaritan’s Planned Giving Committee, which is comprised of some of the region’s leading financial advisers who volunteer their time and expertise to raise awareness about the importance of estate planning.
This year’s workshop panelists include:
- Rachel Shaffer Gersie (associate, Fendrick Morgan): A graduate of Kline School of Law from Drexel, Gersie joined Fendrick Morgan in 2013 and is a member of the Estate and Financial Planning Council of Southern Jersey. She concentrates her practice in the areas of elder law planning, estate and trust planning and administration, and Medicaid planning, and is a member of Samaritan’s Planned Giving Committee.
- Melissa Orsorio Dibble (partner, Archer): A graduate of Rutgers Law-Camden, Dibble serves as a partner at Archer and is the current president of the Estate and Financial Planning Council of Southern New Jersey. She concentrates her practice in the area of estate and trust litigation, representing a variety of institutions and individuals, including banks, universities, executors, trustees, beneficiaries of estates and trusts and intestate heirs, and is a member of Samaritan’s Planned Giving Committee.
