Jerseyans to get new health coverage option as Ambetter joins state marketplace

New Jersey residents will soon have a new option for health coverage through the state’s health insurance marketplace, according to WellCare of New Jersey.

The company will be offering Ambetter Insurance through the state’s Get Covered New Jersey marketplace, WellCare said in a news release. Residents can choose the option during open enrollment Nov. 1 through Jan. 31.

“As our state continues to face the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we’re proud to expand Ambetter’s affordable and dependable health care coverage options to New Jersey residents,” said John Kirchner, WellCare’s plan president and CEO in New Jersey.

Ambetter from WellCare of New Jersey will provide preventive and wellness services, maternity and newborn care, pediatric services, mental health and substance abuse services, hospitalization and prescription drug coverage, the company said.

The plan will be offered in 16 counties, including Essex, Passaic, Bergen, Morris, Union, Hudson, Somerset, Middlesex, Mercer, Monmouth, Burlington, Ocean, Camden, Gloucester, Cumberland and Atlantic.

“By bringing Ambetter to New Jersey, we are providing more health care coverage options for people to get the care they need with a plan that fits their lifestyle and budget,” Kirchner said.
