PTC cutting ribbon on new gene therapy facility today

PTC Therapeutics Inc., a South Plainfield-based biopharmaceutical company, is cutting the ribbon on its new Hopewell gene therapy manufacturing facility at 4 p.m. Thursday.

The new facility includes about 220,500 square feet of office, manufacturing and laboratory space featuring state-of-the-art technology, the company said in a news release.

The new site brings PTC’s New Jersey workforce to 625.

Peltz said in a prepared statement. “Gene therapy holds tremendous promise to treat intractable rare genetic disorders. We have built our capabilities to both perform gene therapy research and to manufacture these biological products.

“We are proud to have such a talented team and state-of-the-art manufacturing facility here in Hopewell that will help expedite bringing these therapies to patients.”
