Parsippany tax advisory leader enhances SALT practice with addition of veteran partner 

Tax and business advisory leader Sax LLP announced that effective Nov. 1 Edvin Givargis was chosen to lead the firm’s established State and Local Tax, or SALT, Practice as partner.

Givargis brings nearly 20 years of experience to Sax, effectively managing national, state and jurisdictional tax matters. In his role as head of Sax’s State and Local Tax Practice, he will lead the charge in advising clients in the areas of multistate compliance, controversy and all other technical matters, including research and issuance of opinions.

“State and local tax is a unique area and requires a deep understanding of state legislative and administrative processes and their impact on various entity types. Edvin’s superior level of expertise in this arena will serve to be a vital asset to our firm and our clients,” Joseph Damiano, managing partner at Sax, said in a prepared statement.

Prior to joining Sax, Givargis worked at accounting firms ranging from regional powerhouses to the Big Four, and served as a trusted adviser to small, closely held companies up to Fortune 500 companies. He has lent his technical expertise to clients operating in various industries, including, but not limited to manufacturing, retail, construction, transportation, legal, real estate, asset management and biotech.

Givargis is a Certified Public Accountant in California. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in accounting, as well as a Master of Science degree in taxation from California State University – Fullerton.
