HealthSTAR Communications elevated Bryan Fuerst to the role of chief financial officer while current CFO Ken Dutcher will transition to a membership position on the HealthSTAR board of directors effective immediately, the independent health care communications network based out of Mahwah said in a Monday announcement.
In his new role, Fuerst will be responsible for all aspects of HealthSTAR’s financial strategy and short- and long-term performance, and will report directly to CEO Mark Fleischer.
“I am pleased to announce that Bryan Fuerst has accepted the role of CFO. Since joining HealthSTAR in June, I have had the opportunity to work closely with Bryan and believe that he has the perfect skills and leadership qualities that will help me lead the company into the future,” Fleischer said. “His understanding of the business and ability to support growth and innovation while providing strong financial stewardship is unique. I look forward to working with him in his new capacity.”
Fuerst has been a part of HealthSTAR since its inception in 1998 and has held various roles within the organization, including corporate controller, director of financial and systems integrations and most recently, senior vice president, finance and assistant treasurer.
Prior to his tenure at HealthSTAR, Fuerst spent several years at the institutional trading firm Cantor Fitzgerald, where he held numerous roles, including global compensation controller based in both New York and the United Kingdom, as well as vice president of finance and managing director of several Cantor subsidiaries. Fuerst also spent a year leading the finance portion of the team at Cantor that was responsible for the IPO of its proprietary trading platform, eSpeed. He also has held roles in designing and implementing financial systems for Fortune 500 companies in partnership with Oracle Hyperion.
