New Jersey home health nurse Gillian Reeve — who specializes in wound care — was recently honored with a DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.
A 40-year employee of Jefferson Health, Reeve was presented the award by Jefferson New Jersey Senior Vice President & Chief Nursing Officer Helene Burns, who praised her positive attitude, commitment to patient safety and ability to connect with patients and families through trust and emotional support.
Part of an international program, DAISY honorees are nominated by patients, family members and colleagues. DAISY Award winners are chosen following a review of nominations by Jefferson’s Clinical Recognition Committee in New Jersey.
The nonprofit DAISY Foundation was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in late 1999 from complications of an autoimmune disease. The care Barnes and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique way of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patients’ families.
