Deborah Heart and Lung Center appoints new cardiology chair

Deborah Heart and Lung Center CEO and President Joseph Chirichella recently announced the appointment of Dr. S. Justin Szawlewicz, as chair, cardiology.

Szawlewicz has served as an attending cardiologist at Deborah since 2010 and as assistant vice president of medical affairs since 2015.

Board-certified in cardiology, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology, Szawlewicz earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. After medical school, he completed a residency in internal medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He also completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine at Cooper University Hospital.

A fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Szawlewicz holds numerous leadership positions at Deborah, including medical director of cardiac rehab and assistant director of the Echocardiography Lab. Szawlewicz’s specialty medical interests include preventive cardiology, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.
