Avison Young acquires N.J.-based design firm Studio Eagle

Avison Young on Tuesday said it acquired Studio Eagle, an innovative workplace design and delivery firm in Springfield. Known for creating innovative design-driven solutions, the firm is set to bolster Avison Young New Jersey’s already robust project and construction management service lines, creating a first-class client experience from design to delivery.

Bruce Emtage, Studio Eagle’s managing director, will join Avison Young as principal and managing director, New Jersey Project Management Studio Services, alongside more than 30 team members, including interior designers and project managers, who will all be based in Avison Young’s Morristown office.

“Studio Eagle’s direct-to-market interior design-to-build services align with our understanding of the workplace as a dynamic ecosystem that must be approached holistically,” said Sheila Botting, principal and president for AY’s Americas professional services group. “By offering ‘white-glove’ service that leverages a tightly-knit team to deliver everything from the space planning and interior design through construction, the Studio Eagle team brings greater value to clients and can create spaces that are more innovative, human-centric and sustainable, in line with Avison Young’s X Factor approach.”

“Transformative changes are taking place at Avison Young, elevating us to the next level and setting the bar of what to expect from a commercial real estate services organization,” said Juan Bueno, principal and U.S. president at Avison Young. “Adding Studio Eagle’s flawless handoff project management model opens the door to a whole new host of services that build on our ability to meet client needs at every stage of the real estate life cycle. That is a major differentiator for us and a critical part of our strategy.”

Dowling Houy, a Boston-based project management firm, was also recently acquired by Avison Young and Arlene Dedier was appointed to lead Canadian Project Management Services. Over the past year, the firm has strategically broadened its North American offerings across the real estate lifecycle, including project management, infrastructure and design services, to best help occupiers, owners and investors navigate increasingly complex and accelerating marketplace needs around workplace strategy and city resiliency.

“We made the strategic choice to align ourselves with a collaborative and dynamic real estate services platform like Avison Young’s because they have the market intelligence and tech stack to propel growth and put boots on the ground in extended geographic regions,” Emtage said. “This was the right transition, at the right time and we are excited to bring our talented team and decades of workplace design experience to the Avison Young family.”

Matheson Financial Advisors Inc. acted as the financial and mergers & acquisitions adviser on behalf of Studio Eagle and its members. Morningstar Law Group acted as the legal adviser for Studio Eagle and its members.
