Matt Wassel and Kieran Flanagan have been promoted to principal at Saxum Real Estate, the national boutique real estate investment and development firm based in Summit.
The promotions, announced by founder and Managing Partner Anthony Rinaldi, come after another banner year for Saxum, which now has more than 30 team members.
Wassel, who joined Saxum as director of leasing in the first quarter of 2018 to spearhead the leasing of the firm’s portfolio, has played a critical role in the growth of the firm — signing more than 2 million square feet of leases.
Rinaldi said Wassel’s role as leader in the firm has expanded to become a critical voice in Saxum’s long-term growth, leasing, asset management and strategic planning. Wassel also was responsible for the opening of Saxum’s office in Austin, Texas, in 2020. As a newly promoted principal, Wassel will continue to lead Saxum’s growing leasing team to execute on Saxum’s multiple investment strategies.

Flanagan joined Saxum in 2016 as director of construction. He has overseen the construction and development of over 4 million square feet of Saxum’s rapidly growing portfolio. With more than 30 years of experience in construction spanning multiple asset classes, he has been a critical force in Saxum’s growth, especially through one of the most challenging construction environments in the last 50 years. Flanagan has grown his dynamic team of construction professionals executing on dozens of projects across the country.
As principal, Flanagan will continue to lead the execution of Saxum’s construction projects across the country while also strategically building and expanding the organizations’ ability to continuously meet and exceed its growth expectations nationwide.
